Geoff and Marie Hatfield live in an old Queenslander on a one-acre block in the picturesque hills of the Gold Coast hinterland. Here, they have tried to provide an idyllic home life for their three kids; Carly 21, Josh 18 and Sharna 13. But the whole family suffers from constant debilitating ill health.
Geoff, a spray paint artist, is virtually incapacitated by his chronic asthma, Marie, suffers from multiple chemical sensitivity and the kid's list of allergies reads like an anti-histamine commercial. While the family joke about their ailments, their humour only thinly guises a deep sadness that the constant illness affects them all.
Over the years Geoff and Marie have tried to find out what is wrong with their family and have visited countless health professionals. Marie suspects that their ill health is related to Geoff's spray painting, but even though he has relocated his studio from under the house to an outside shed, the health problems haven't gone away. The family is at breaking point and help couldn't come any sooner.
