Kevin Walton moved his family across the world to paradise; a pole house with a pool and lush tropical surrounds. But his home soon came under the attack of two forces of nature- floods and termites.
In an effort to combat floods causing landslides and then waging war on the persistent termites, Kevin clad his house and pool deck with CCA treated timber. This cheap building material is guaranteed to withstand rot, fungus and termites. For 2 years he lugged hundreds of planks of the timber around his property turning it into a veritable CCA treated fortress.
Although Kevin developed skin lesions when he first handled the CCA treated timber, he was blasé about its effect on his health. And he didn't consider that the poisons could be harming his young daughter who practically lives on the CCA poolside decking. In the last few years the use of CCA treated timber for high skin contact areas, such as decking, picnic tables and handrails has been restricted in Australia the US and Europe.
In trying to provide a better life for his family is Kevin slowly poisoning them?
