Nigel West is currently a Senior Chemist and Research Officer at the Chemistry Centre of Western Australia. Nigel's responsibilities are to participate in emergency response services, to manage background air quality projects, process and emission studies and occupational health investigations. This work is performed using a wide range of internationally accredited methods, for example USEPA TO11A, TO14A and TO17 as well as on-site analyses using portable GC-MS, FTIR and Raman spectrometry. On-site analyses of unknowns are carried out to aid police and other emergency response organisations who may be responding to issues such as odours in the work place, industrial accidents and other accidental events that may impact upon the publics health.
